What is it:
Chemical derivatives used as colorant ingredients.
What does it look like?
These could be in powder form or liquids.
What is it used for:
Dye or color is used for visual appeal in skin care.
Why we are featuring it:
Dye or colours can cause hyperactivity as also cancer. While these have been actively banned from food additives in the skincare these are used quite frequently. The colorants in our skin care products arent as hazardous though they still cause issues. This ingredient can cause acne to flare up, surface level irritation, and might get absorbed in the skin. At times it can lead to disruption of the oil barrier leading to further skin irritation and possible break outs.
It always makes sense to read the label. At times the ingredient might have it featured and at other times there might be a dubious “colorant” added. Its a call to take whether the brand is reputable enough for you to trust and if it is then they would be happy to reply to your customer care query on the “colorant type”. hey’ll have a color in the ingredient name itself, like “yellow 6.” For other products, the manufacturer might be vague and only write “colorant” or something similar.
